BABS CRAIG

My Setup

I've worked remotely for the greater part of 4 years and in that time I've come to realize that having a great workspace setup can have an immense impact on your ability to stay productive at home. I've gone through several iterations of my workspace - from a matress in my bedroom to my first office desk setup - and I thought to share a few of my favorite items from my current iteration especially as I get asked about them on Instagram.

Logitech Combo Touch iPad Pro

I had to think long and hard about whether to go full Apple with the magic keyboard for iPad or the Logitech option - the Combo Touch. The cheaper price, more modifiable viewing angle, additional function/media keys and the fact that the iPad is protected at all times even when you take the keyboard off made the Combo Touch the more reasonable option for me. Barner Recoleta Silver Matte Screen Glasses

I've been in the market for a pair of bluelight blocking glasses as I spend so much time in front of multiple screens for both work and play. When Barner reached out, I was curious to try out their glasses since I'd come across them when doing my research. I went with the Recoleta pair from their 'Metal' collection in silver. I absolutely love the build, fit and finish of these glasses. The virtual try on is another great touch allowing you to pick the right pair that'll fit your face. If like me you struggle with getting glasses that look good on your face, you'll appreciate this feature. Read More

Lego Star Wars Stormtrooper Helmet

Got this on a lark. I was strolling past the Lego Store and had flashbacks to my childhood :-). Decided to go in and this caught my eye. It was pretty easy to put together over a few days. I just spend some quiet time in the evening or early mornings putting the pieces together. I actually quite enjoy how it's almost a meditative activity. It lets my hands stay active while allowing my thoughts to slow down. And the finished product looks awesome too! Read More

Gator Frameworks Desktop Clamp-On Stand

These stands are just what I needed to get my studio monitors off the desk and free up some space. I prefer them to floor stands because this way I can minimize the footprint around the desk but still keep them off my desk surface. They're really well made and very sturdy. A bit pricier than the competition but having tried a few of the cheaper stands and returned them, I can see why. Read More

JBL 305p MK II

They're white. That's what drew me to them. Going for a white themed workspace is pretty tough :-). But what really got me was how good these sound. I've been used to monitor/reference headphones for a while now but these pair of monitor speakers blew me away. Crisp details and just enough bass to not sound flat. They also come in slightly below the competition when it comes to price and when is that ever a bad thing. Read More

randomfrankp x NK_ Deskpad

I get soooo many questions about this Deskpad, for obvious reasons. It's unique, comes in both light grey (which I have) and dark grey colorways and those patterns just look so good. It's not always in stock though but novelkeys have a feature where you can enter your email to be notified if/when the deskpad comes back in stock. Read More

Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Wireless Gaming Headset

I really took my time before making this buying decision. I had just got the Focal Elex audiophile headphones and I knew I wanted a gaming headset that wasn't going to be such a dramatic drop in quality to listen to. I also wanted something with a great mic for use on work calls. This truly exceeded my expectations on all counts. The mic is, as one colleague remarked, "podcast ready". Voice comes through crisp and with just a hint of added bass. The noise cancellation also works really well. In game, sound is truly directional and the THX Spatial audio is a blast when listening out for opponent's footsteps. Sound quality is decent for other uses too and I sometimes leave them in to listen to music or movies. It also helps that they're crazy comfortable and I don't find myself tearing them off my head as soon as a gaming session is over. Read More

Divoom Ditoo Pixel Art Bluetooth Speaker

I really love this little bluetooth speaker/pixel art display/retro gaming device. It's one of those things that just makes you smile when you look at it. The bluetooth speaker is also pretty loud and surprisingly good. It's also got retro games like snake, tetris and space invaders. What more could you ask for Read More

HP Omen 27i Gaming Monitor

After getting the RTX 3070, I was ready to make the step up to a high refresh rate monitor. While looking at the typical LG options, I came across this one. At 165Hz, it had a higher refresh rate than they LGs but the panel itself, was made by LG. I also like how the monitor had a more toned down aesthetic than the usual 'gaming monitor' vibe. It's also pretty great for photo and video editing. Not professional grade but much better than my 38" LG Ultrawide for that particular task. Read More

Logitech G305 Wireless Gaming Mouse

After I built my gaming PC, I knew I wanted a mouse that was white, had all the gaming chops and was wireless. The G305 fit the bill without breaking the bank. Lots of bang for buck and I'd totally get them again. Read More

AVLT Dual Stack Monitor Arm

This thing is solid at only a fraction of the price of the contenders out there. Mounting both a 27 inch and a 38 inch, it's a challenge finding affordable solutions that are solid and built well. This thing just works. It's supposed to max out at 34 inches but had no issues mounting my 38 inch whatsoever. Read More

Vivo Montior Desk Mount Stand

Simple, functional, unobtrusive. Some of the words I use to describe this stand. It's cheap, gets the job done and while I initially bought it for my previous 27 inch monitor, it is just about strong enough to hold my current 38" Ultrawide. Read More

Oakywood Laptop Stand

I love this stand because it is made from Walnut wood. It's also handcrafted and so each one is unique. It's nice to have a little natural texture in an otherwise all white and simple setup like mine. Read More

Geometric Abstract Wallpaper

I've used this wallpaper for quite a while now. It's nice to look at without being too distracting. I also have the same wallpaper on my phone Read More

Logitech MX Master 2s

There's nothing I can say about the Logitech MX series that hasn't already been said. It's quite simply the best mouse I've ever used. When it comes to productivity and long hours of use, it's hard to beat this. Get the MX 3 though, unless you really want a white one like I did! Read More

HyperX PBT Pudding Keycaps

This relatively cheap pudding keycap set really shows off the RGB lights of the Anne Pro well. Nothing but good things to say about this. If you have an RGB keyboard, and like the white keycap aesthetic, you sould defintiely try this one. Read More

LG 38WK95C-W 38" Curved UltraWide WQHD+ Monitor

I've really enjoyed the productivity boost of having a single ultrawide monitor with all the space I need to code, create content and edit media. I recently changed to this from a 27 inch LG 4k monitor and while the drop in resolution took some getting used to, it's a trade-off that I've found to be worth it, even after more than a year of using it. Anne Pro 2

This Keyboard is the heart and soul of my workspace. Combined with the custom keycaps I've added it's a pleasure to look at and a pleasure to type with. I've had it for a couple months now and I absolutely enjoy typing on this thing every day. Read More
